Very easy to work with

I had good service and really like dealing with Tim Howard (service advisor). However, there was a bit of a mix-up. I had a coupon for 15% off my service. But on the invoice, it said 10% discount. I called Tim to ask about it and he explained that I did, in fact, get the 15% discount (he said the math on the invoice was correct). But there was no code for 15%, only 10%. So that is why the invoice showed 10% discount versus 15%. I thanked Tim for explaining that to me. But come on, Denny Menholt, you're a big company. Put the right codes into your computers. Help your service advisors out.

Chuck Wald and everyone else was very helpful. I test drove 2 different equinox’s to see which one I liked better. I definitely loved the equinox activ and it had everything I was looking for. They all helped me through the process to purchase a 2026 Chevy equinox activ. I’m in love with it! Chuck also made sure I got the best deal possible especially with the interest rate.

See here is the thing. I work there. But when I’m not working there, I purchase vehicles there. I would do that even if I didn’t work there. But I do work there. So because of the conflict of interest I refuse to talk about how great my experience was with myself. Last time I did this, people were upset. Maybe because they were not me or because they were not purchasing a vehicle from me and that made them jealous. Either way, I refuse to share how awesome my experience was buying from myself. So we will just sit here in silence. Happy with our experience with me.

My service advisor, Melanie, was absolutely fantastic! Through no fault of the dealership, my insurance caused significant delays in getting my truck repaired in a timely fashion. Melanie kept me informed throughout the process. Even though it took almost a month to get my truck back, again, due to delays caused by my insurance company, the professionalism and quality of the staff and techs at the dealership was never in question.

Problem found and corrected under warrenty.

We initially submitted our online order for the 2025 Chevy Silverado custom-built approximately 1 March 2025 but did not receive any notification from Denny Menholt confirming receipt. Instead, we had to call to verify the order was received and was being worked which is how we met our dealership representative, Jeremy Snyder. Throughout the process, we did experience challenges due to what appeared to be miscommunication between the dealership and ordering facility. This caused us to experience a much longer waiting period with no updates available unless we called/texted which was frustrating at times. Our experience improved once the issue was finally found and resolved. As a customer, it would have been amazing to been granted the capability to independently check-in on the status of our truck online. It was approximately 18 weeks until our truck was delivered which seemed to have occurred while Jeremy was on leave. In this case, an automated notification or contact by another dealership representative would have been preferred. We were able to easily schedule an appointment with Jeremy upon his return to pick up the truck. He walked us through the administrative paperwork, vehicle familiarization in detail and has made himself available to assist during our follow-on visits. He was patient, professional and great to work with which is a wonderful reflection of the customer service experience anyone can expect when visiting Denny Menholt Chevrolet. We are confident that Jeremy will be able to further assist, if needed.

I had my oil changed on my Impala and I brought a cabin filter, I thought to labor rate to put that in was pretty high considering the quick lube down here checks and changes them for free. If I would have known I did never brought it there.

Went in for my appointment and everyone was professional, courteous, and listened to all my questions

My appointment for installing four new tires and a front end alignment was for 11:00. My vehicle wasn't ready until 5:00. I used to work in an automotive shop. Four tires shouldn't take more than one hour. An alignment should take only another hour. The shop called me and asked if I would like the oil changed since my oil life was at 9 percent. I agreed to the oil change (another 30 minutes?). Why did a 2 1/2 hour job take six hours?? Then to top it off, the next day I received a text and an email telling me I missed my appointment. ??? I have been going to "Rapid Chevrole"t since they were on Deadwood Avenue - a long time cusomer. Unfortunately, this was the first time I had less than the usual excellent service.

The Service Department did a great job in getting my car in, taking care of the issues, and providing information on purchase of tires.

Chuck is amazing to work with and my experience with the team was also amazing.

I didn't have an appointment but needed immediate service and they were able to work me in. THANKS! Most everything was taken care of, again thanks. My car showed it was necessary to service the tire pressure sensor. They did but on the way home to Custer the service light for tire pressure sensor again came on. So next time I'm in Rapid or at my next oil change they will have to repair. Thanks again to your service department. Great group to work with.

The technicians also experienced the same thing we do when we start it up, but they were unable to figure out what is the problem. Spending over $200 without fixing the issue is problematic for us as we are on a tight budget.

We arrived at the dealership that day fresh from a bad experience with another dealership directly across the street. The previous evening they had given us an 'incredible on-line offer' for a vehicle similar to the one we eventually purchased from your company, but when we attempted to take them up on their deal, just minutes before our appointment with them, they 'bait and switched' us badly. Thus, at our initial meeting with your sales rep, we were likely not our best selves, and full of skepticism, doubt, and mistrust. To be honest, we originally had 'brand loyalty' with the other folks... that was until they turned on us so badly. But time (and approaching Winter) was quickly closing in on us and Cindy needed a new vehicle before the roads turn bitter here in South Dakota. We were open and frank with your sales rep right out of the gate, and he showed us genuine empathy, courtesy, and respect every step of the way. He even went above and beyond to try to prove to us that Menholt Chevy in Rapid City was nothing like their competitors across the street. Our being Veterans and retirees on fixed incomes, we had a set budget and a bottom-line, walk-away number we could not budge on. Steve not only respected that, but while he did give us the expected company warranty-extension spiel, he didn't attempt to hoodwink us further with the typical up-selling 'clear-coat' and bells and whistles sales pitches so many other sales folks have attempted with us in the past. We had a fair and open discussion. We listed our particulars, and why. And he did the same. He and his supervisor also gave us a very fair trade-in price for Cindy's older (albeit lower-mileage) car, which while we are meticulous in upkeep and maintenance for them, they are considerably older than most trade-ins other folks offer when they buy more frequently than we do. In the end, we were able to drive off the lot in the vehicle Cindy truly liked (which matched all her previous research on the make and model), with all the features she had been hoping for, including many additional dashboard (tech) perks she found very helpful that neither of us had expected would be available within our limited budget. Too often these days, it has been our unfortunate experience that car buying is stressful, exhausting, and a needless exercise in relentless carnival shell-games and sales gimmicks all intended to suck more money from our limited, hard-earned, blue-collar budgets. This time, however, Steve at Menholt's Rapid Chevy in Rapid City, gave us none of that. He treated us not like suckers off the street, but like he would his own friends. He respected us, our backgrounds, our intelligence, and he recognized our needs and how we'd been unfairly treated by others. I've bought, driven, sold and traded multiple vehicles from every major American carmaker throughout my 65 years, but I have to say that this most recent purchase experience through this dealership was the best car-shopping experience I've had to-date. I recommend Menholt's Rapid Chevrolet in Rapid City, South Dakota and that's high praise coming from a salty old G.I. like me. And if you are in a bind like we were and need a straight-shooter who'll treat you with respect, I recommend you work with Steve _______.

It seemed like it took a long time to get the transmission in to repair the truck. Once it was received Tim got it replaced quickly. It seems GM has an issue with these transmissions and needs to get a fix in place quickly IMO. We did receive a few different stories about why it was taking so long to do the repair, but the weather stayed relatively nice so my wife was not too alarmed. In the future I would suggest that the dealership offer an equivalent vehicle as a loaner if it is going to take a month for a repair.
